A great gift idea any time of year.

A Ribbon on the Street

An Unexpected Gift

They can be dyed every color of the rainbow or cut from any pattern, and they show up in all kinds of places. Ribbons are full of possibilities! If you found one lying in the street, what would you do? What would you think?

Maybe you’d wonder how it came to be there, or who might have earned it and why they did.

Maybe you’d wonder why you happened to find such a mysterious thing.

There are lots of questions, but only one needs an answer: What will you do with this unexpected gift? Ribbon’s lively illustrations and thought-provoking lines breathe life into Best Story Alive’s playful rhymer.

Meet the Team

James Edward Best author photo

James Edward Best has been a father, a husband, a coach, a manager, and a leader. In all these roles, he had a lot to learn. Jim found that we all need “life lessons,” but that this learning does not always come easily. He founded Best Story Alive to share life lessons in “Fun Stories for Living & Learning.” Whether that’s through Petie, who realizes it’s wrong to steal in The Irate Pirate, or the child who gives Ribbon a special meaning, there’s something to share, learn, and apply to everyday life. Jim thanks you for reading along.

Emily Lynch Victory is a painter and illustrator enthusiastic about pattern. With degrees in both mathematics and fine art, she loves combining the two. Originally from Minnesota, Emily currently lives in Tampa, Florida, with her husband and three young, energetic, book-loving boys.

What Is Best Story Alive?

At Best Story Alive, we understand that education is the foundation of creating a fulfilling life, and reading is a fundamental part of that. We make reading an enjoyable and entertaining pastime that the whole family can share together. As you read about these lovable characters, you’ll laugh, be inspired, and learn. Young readers may discover some bigger words to add to their vocabulary and strengthen their reading muscles.

Enjoy these fun stories, made for living, laughing, and learning. Most of them take place in Stillville, where “All Our Citizens Are Animals.” They cover a range of topics that everyone can relate to, including learning to be true to ourselves, finding our strengths, being comfortable in our own skin, making the most with what we have, dealing with a bully, and more of course!
